Rob Clayton appointed Ultraflight Flight Safety Officer (FSO)

New FSO Rob Clayton

Howard Hughes

Congratulations to our retiring FSO Captain Howard Hughes on his recent appointment as an Inspector of Air Accidents with the AAIU in the Department of Transport.

Howard’s expertise and enthusiasm for safe flying was the driving force behind the appointment of an FSO at Ultraflight. Working quietly behind the scenes, the FSO has repeatedly proved to be a valuable resource at Ultraflight over the past two years. Howard is stepping down as FSO because of his recent AAIU appointment, but he will continue as an ordinary member of Ultraflight. I would like to thank Howard for all his work as FSO and wish him every success in his new role with the AAIU.

Rob Clayton

We are delighted to announce that Rob Clayton has been appointed as the new Ultraflight FSO. Rob’s keen interest and obvious ability enabled him to train as a professional pilot with a multi-engine IR. Now Rob will put that enthusiasm and knowledge to work to continue the promotion of a safe flying culture at Ultraflight.  If you have any safety issues or questions to raise with Rob, please contact him anonymously or directly at This email address is being protected from spambots.
